We begin the tour by visiting Nesjavellir geothermal area in the scenic landscape of Lake Ţingvallavatn. From there we head to Ţingvellir National Park, where Alţingi, the Icelandic parliament was founded in the year 930 AD. Ţingvellir is geologically remarkable and the tectonic plate boundaries make a breathtaking scenery.
We continue to the beautiful waterfall Gullfoss, where we can get close enough to feel the mist of the glacial water.
Our lunchbreak is at Gullfoss or at Geysir.
From there we journey towards the Great Geysir geothermal area to see the incredible spouting hot springs Geysir and Strokkur. We continue to Skálholt church, the ancient seat of the Icelandic bishops. From Skálholt we travel towards Hveragerđi, a small and charming horticultural village.
Visits to Nesjavellir can not be guaranteed in the winter season due to weather and road conditions.
