::Itinerary

After departing Reykjavik, we begin our tour by visiting the Nesjavellir geothermal area in the scenic landscape of Lake Ţingvallavatn.

From there we head to Ţingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site where Alţingi, the Icelandic parliament, was founded in the year 930 AD. Ţingvellir is geologically remarkable and the tectonic plate boundaries make for quite remarkable and breathtaking scenery.

We continue to the beautiful two tiered waterfall, Gullfoss, where we can get close enough to feel the mist of the glacial water.

Our lunch break is at Gullfoss or at Geysir.

From there we journey towards the Great Geysir geothermal area to see the incredible spouting hot springs, Geysir and Strokkur. The Strokur hot spring erupts every 5 minutes or so, making it one of the most active geysers.

We continue to Skálholt church, the ancient seat of the Icelandic bishops for centuries. From Skálholt we travel back towards the capital taking a short stop at the Geothermal Power plant, Hellisheiđi, before returning to Reykjavik.

Visits to Nesjavellir can not be guaranteed in the winter season due to weather and road conditions.
