Accommodation in mountain huts or tents.

Laugavegur is Iceland’s most famous hiking trail, because there are few trails in the country that offer more diversity and beauty.

There is a marked track for most of the route and your guide will make sure you don’t miss the best spots along the way. The hike begins in Landmannalaugar, a geothermal wonderland and the route goes south through the highlands.
On the way we go through fields of obsidian lava, we will see red and yellow mountains, black sands and sparkling white glaciers. The trail ends in Ţórsmörk, a green valley, nestled at the foot of the infamous glacier and a volcano Eyjafjallajökull which erupted in 2010 and completely reformed some of the area. The luggage is transported by a 4x4 vehicle from hut to hut so you only have to carry a light pack during the hike. All meals are included and your guide will provide local information and assistance. In the huts, the guides will, along with the group, prepare great meals to enjoy together in a magical environment and atmosphere.

We have several hiking tours in this area. Please take a look at HT01, HT05 and HT14.

Duration: 6 Days / 5 Nights

Accommodation in tents.

Trip difficulty: 4 out of 5 possible. Rated: Challenging.

The Hornstrandir nature reserve is an isolated area of magnificent untouched natural beauty and wildlife. From the sea sheer basalt mountains stretch to the sky, chaotically divided by deep fjords and valleys. At the coast the relentless power of the ocean has moulded towering sea cliffs richly populated by seabirds and some of the alcoves and scurries of the coast are home to an abundance of seals and here the arctic fox wanders in its natural environment. From the settlement of Iceland and until the middle of the 20th century the area was populated by the toughest of Icelandic fishermen. The Hornstrandir area is now empty of permanent settlers but their abandoned homes and workshops are scattered around the area. The Lost Fjords trip is a full on backpacking trip where we are self sufficient, carrying our equipment but get food drops on various places with the passenger boats. You can be sure that trekking through the Hornstrandir will leave you amazed and packed with memories that will last a lifetime.

Accommodation in mountain huts.

Hiking through the magnificent landscapes of mountains and small bays of the North East is a unique experience. The mountains come in all shapes and sizes and the variety of colors is stunning; everything from the black sands of the beaches to the pinkish orange hues of the mountain ridges. The closeness to the ocean sets its mark on this tour.

Each day we follow old trails between isolated coves and fjords over colorful hills and down green valleys to the sea and the drone of the North Atlantic Ocean. This combination of mountains and ocean is what makes this trek a unique one; another advantage is the milder climate that can be expected at this low altitude. The area remained populated until the early seventies and abandoned farms and ancient farmsteads set their mark on the surroundings, however, sheep may be the only living thing connecting us to those former times.
