The Icelandic horse is a breed that has remained unchanged and has not bred with any other horse breeds since the Vikings brought it to Iceland in the 9th century. Enjoy a riding tour in the pretty landscape of Laxnes, located just a short distance outside of the Reykjavik city centre. The riding tour is suitable for all ages and experience levels, from beginner to expert. However, the tour is not suitable for very young children (under 6 years old)
After the riding experience and a short break we join our Golden Circle Afternoon tour, which leaves Reykjavík at 13:00, and heads to the National Park Ţingvellir, a unique place from a geolocical point of view and a place of great beauty. The Icelandic Parliament, Alţingi, was founded on the site in 930 AD., making it the oldest parliament in the world in continuous existance.
We visit the impressive Gullfoss waterfall in the glacial river Hvítá and the geothermal area at Great Geysir and we will see the active Strokkur which spouts evey few minutes. The tour takes us through fertile agricultural areas before heading back to Reykjavík across Hellisheiđi mountain pass.
Please note: This tour is not recommended for children under the age of 6.
