Day 1. The Scenic South Coast
You will be picked up at your accommodation in the morning and will head out of the city to explore the scenic south coast. The first stop will be the picturesque Seljalandsfoss waterfall. In good weather conditions, you can actually walk behind the waterfall. Only short distance further you´ll find yet another stunning waterfall – Skógafoss. Heading further east we will stop at Reynisfjara - beautiful black sand beach under the Reynisfjall mountain with stunning basalt columns. We continue to Vík, a small, charming village, which is also Iceland´s southernmost town. From Vík we will head across Mýrdalssandur floodplains and Eldhraun, the most extensive lava field ever to flow on face of Earth in historical time, and to Kirkjubćjarklaustur town. From there we continue our journey further east to Skaftafell national park – an oasis wedged between glacier and sand plains. The last stop will be the breath-taking Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon, where huge icebergs, true sculptures of nature, broken off Breiđmerkurjökull glacier, float in the blue waters of the lagoon. If you are lucky enough, you might see some seals swimming between icebergs. Overnight in the area.
