Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival and Northern Lights by Super Jeep

Upon arrival at Keflavik airport a Flybus transfer is included to your chosen accommodation in Reykjavik. You will be free for the rest of the day to explore Reykjavik, visit museums, landmarks etc. Visit the Northern Lights Center, where you will learn about the phenomenon of northern lights by viewing facts and figures on wall posters, HD screens and interactive devices. Downtown Reykjavík offers excellent restaurants, cafés, bars and clubs.

A Super Jeep will pick you up at your hotel around 20:00 to take you far from the city light to search for the Northern Lights. We leave the light pollution of the city in the evening on this approximately 3 - 4 hour tour and head out into the dark and cold night in our super jeep that are specially modified for the wild Icelandic terrain. We will drive wherever the lights take us, even on mountain roads, in our search for the best locations to view this fabulous solar display swirling in the sky in a symphony of magical colors and shapes.

If we aren’t successful in finding the lights right away we drive on to good locations our drivers have found to be successful in our bid to track them down. This phenomenal display of colors, varying from greenish yellow to beautiful shades of blue, red, pink, purple and white is a sight you will never forget. The spectacular Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis are created by electrically charged particles and create such a display they’re known to take people’s breath away.

Please note that it’s not possible to guarantee the Northern lights and we do not leave town if weather conditions are not right and reschedule for another night. If the tour is not successful you are welcome to try once more the next time we go out for free. This is nontransferable and must be used within 2 weeks of booked tour. The return policy is good for 1 time only.

It is important to understand that in Iceland you can experience all four seasons in less than one day. It is vital to wear comfortable and appropriate clothing like waterproof, walking shoes, dress in layers to be able to enjoy your journey to the fullest.

Day 2. Golden Circle Super Jeep and Snowmobiling

The tour today is an Iceland adventure where you will experience some of Iceland’s most famous and exciting natural phenomena by exploring the Golden Circle, topped off with an unforgettable snowmobile tour on Langjökull glacier.

Our first stop on the Golden Circle is Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home of Iceland’s first parliament and the oldest extant parliamentary institution in the world. Founded in AD 930, it is Iceland’s most significant historical site.

Also capturing the world’s attention is Þingvellir’s geological features where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates can be seen separating from each other, although, ever-so-slightly year after year. Now after many millennium, you can witness the big gap that’s been formed at this geological marvel.

From Þingvellir, we head inland toward the highly active Geysir Hot Spring area with its boiling mud pits and spouting hot springs. For some wet and wild excitement, if the winds are right, you can let the falling water from the mighty geyser give you a good dousing.

We continue on to Gullfoss, one of Iceland’s most powerful waterfalls. Located on Hvítá river, this waterfall fed by Langjökull Glacier plummets 32 meters in two stages into a rugged canyon.

To top it all off, we drive to Langjökull Glacier for another Iceland adventure where we will dash across snowfields on snowmobiles, gazing at the mountain peaks, while enveloped in this icy realm.

We return to Reykjavík after an exciting day with memories for a lifetime.

Please note: A valid driver‘s license is needed to operate a snowmobile.

We recommend you bring: Warm & windproof clothing in addition to good, waterproof hiking boots and a camera.

Highlights:
Þingvellir
Gullfoss Waterfall and Geysir Hot Springs

Day 3. South Coast Sightseeing and a Glacier Hike

This tour takes you to south Iceland travelling through lush farmlands with views of powerful volcanoes, glaciers and thundering waterfalls.

First in a series of natural landmarks is Skógafoss waterfall, arguably the country‘s most iconic waterfall and one of south Iceland‘s star attraction. Viking legends tell of a treasure buried in a cave behind the waterfall.

From Skógafoss you travel east to Sólheimajökull glacier for a 1 hour walk in a spellbinding glacier landscape. Combination of expansive views, jagged peaks, cool blue glaciers and wide-open sky provide a steady stream of amazing photographic opportunities.

Heading back to Reykjavik from Sólheimajökull your last but by no means the last is the iconic Seljalandsfoss waterfall where you can literally walk behind a curtain of water which is certainly a moment you’ll want to capture on camera.

Highlights of the day:
Seljalandsfoss Waterfall
Skógafoss Waterfall
Vík Town
Reynisfjara beach
