Hólamvík is a small and picturesque fishing town in the Strandir area, with a population of about 400 people. It is located by Steingrímsfjörður Fjord, on the east coast of the Westfjords. Hólmavík is the largest settlement in the Strandir area and its economy depends mainly on fishing and fish processing but in the recent years, tourism has grown rapidly.

Hólmavík is known for its interesting history of witchcraft and sorcery and a visit to the Sorcery and Witchcraft Museum, located at Hólmavík is an interesting experience in order to get insight into witchcraft and witch hunting that was practiced here in the 17th century.
